Les vitrines de Noël Chanel du Printemps

Last wednesday, Karl Lagerfeld revealed the window dressings of the Printemps Haussmann department store in Paris, that have been decorated by Chanel for Christmas.

We were there amongst the crowds, waiting for the arrival of Karl, head of the fashion house Chanel, who made us wait for more than an hour outside the department store, where hundreds of people had swarmed to get a glimpse of the biggest man in fashion.

The rock star arrived with Vanessa Paradis, Anna Mouglalis, Bruno Pavloski and Eric Pfrunder (the fashion director and the director of Chanel image), in a blur of flashing cameras and iphones.

The curtain was lifted to reveal dozens of dolls, all with the head of Karl Lagerfeld, placed on all of the main tourist attractions of a very Snowy Paris.

The window display, called ‘dreams of escaping ‘ shows Karl going all over the world, from Venice to Moscow, passing through Paris and Beverly Hills…

Amongst the dream-like scenery, there were some of the latest creations from the most recent fashion show of the legendary fashion house, Chanel, whose original couture boutique is located at 31 Rue de Cambon, Paris.

Interview with Maria Luisa

Our evening ended with a long chat with Maria Luisa Poumaillou, normally just called ‘Maria Luisa’, who has been the fashion editor at the Printemps Haussman department store for two years.

The designer has created a space on the second floor of the department store which is solely dedicated to fashion and creativity, where she showcases her favourite and most talented designers’s latest pieces.

Maria Luisa tells us about how honoured she feels to have the ability to express herself so freely and reach out to the 150,000 daily visitors that walk through the department store doors every day. ‘’More so than in my shop, which had to deal with so much competition’’, she tells us. Maria Luisa is so excited about this new adventure which is joined with her online shop, created with Yoox.

Nearly half of the visitors are foreign, and this statistic has been continuing to rise for many years.

Maria Luisa, who is your favourite French designer at the moment ?

“Anthony Vaccarello, he has scissor hands !”

And your favourite foreign designer ?

“Christoher Kane creates some amazing pieces.”

Who is the ‘printemps’ woman ?

” The ‘printemps’ woman is not necessarily Parisian, but she is an elegant lady who strolls around Paris”

What three adjectives would you use to describe your brand (Maria Luisa) ?

” Essential, intellectual, glamorous.”

Any last words to leave us with ?

” Culture is the next true luxury.”
