Marianne Maric

Marianne Maric is a young French photographer who doesn’t hesitate to use woman as an object.
This work, which is on display in the Magda Danysz gallery, reaffirms the use of woman as an object of entertainment. During the installation, a woman dressed in a lampshade was laid out in a darkened room where each visitor could turn the light on or off.

“These lamp-girls were conceived as an illustration of woman as a ‘thing’ conveyed through the world of entertainment, but gradually climbing the rungs of that ladder that leads to realisation.”
“I see the human body in the same way as William Klein, who perceived it as a magnificent and fascinating piece of architecture that is worthy of being photographed.”
