Jaguar XJ

Jaguar has launched its XJ saloon and provided a clean break with the brand’s ‘traditional’ style. The beautiful English car has a new look, beneath which are some astonishing innovations from a manufacturer that has been criticised for being too attached to its ostentatious image.

You have to admire the work of Ian Callum, Jaguar’s chief designer who has reworked the classic model that was launched sixty years ago, without losing any of its underlying style. The XJ is very imposing, with an extremely long bonnet that houses a V6 (diesel) or V8 (petrol), and a panoramic roof that benefits the passengers as much as the driver.

The XJ has an aerodynamic aluminium body and benefits from cutting edge advances in fuel economy technology, making it one of the least thirsty luxury cars around.

The interior has also been modernised thanks to the touch screens in the cockpit, and the traditional dashboard being replaced by a screen, allowing the driver to keep his/her eyes on the road, even when using the GPS system.

The true enthusiasts amongst you should know that the coupe version of the XJ is currently being designed.
