Mercedes-Benz Museum

Mercedes-Benz has opened a museum in Stuttgart that retraces the entire history of the automobile from their first car, produced in 1886, to the sublime SLS AMG, without missing a single model.

Covering more than 16,000m2, the museum houses a collection of 160 legendary models from this manufacturer, laid out beneath two ellipses that represent human DNA, designed by Van Berkel and Bos from UNStudio.
This architecture illustrates the philosophy of Mercedes-Benz: to continue to offer new products that fulfil the requirements of human transportation.

You will need more than two hours of guided tours to absorb the 120 years of technological evolution across the different sectors in which the firm is involved, notably in the sports car industry.
A large part of this museum is currently dedicated to research that will enable the carmaker to keep its promise of only producing non-polluting vehicles within ten years.

A stunning collection of photos from Auto-blog, as well as a virtual museum visit on the official site, are both available.
