Philips Sound Sphere

Philips invited us to a private concert by the singer Liza Michael on Radio France, where we were able to discover their new Sound Sphere range.

The Sound Sphere Hi-Fi system, an interesting and innovative product, was the model that really grabbed our attention.

Bound by the restrictions of producing a micro-system at an affordable price, Philips drew its inspiration from Hi-Fi systems by moving the tweeter (which reproduces high frequencies) onto the top of the speaker in order to obtain a more natural and balanced sound.

The angle of the main speaker helps to sustain the sound and eliminate interference.

Whereas some boast about providing “mega-ultra-bass” worthy of a tuning competition, Philips take great care to reproduce the tricky high frequencies as faithfully as possible. This innovation goes hand in hand with new manufacturing ideas – the speaker casings are made of a single piece of aluminium and the components are gold plated.

This micro-system is also equipped with technology that is capable of recognising all of your music, whether streamed from a Mac or a PC via Wi-Fi, or stored on a simple USB memory stick, and improving the sound quality during real time playback.

Expect to pay between 799€ and 999€ for the complete mini-system on Philips’ online store.
