Burberry

The height of British elegance, Burberry has been around for over 150 years. After a long struggle with rhumatism, Thomas Burberry decided a good solution would be to design his own series of waterproof raincoats. This innovative move soon turned into a raging success. People travelled from all across London to snap up his practical and elegant designs.
It was Burberry who invented gabardine, the cloth that would change the face of modern tailoring. Having patented their invention, Burberry remained sole proprietors of gabardine until 1917, when they became official tailors to British soldiers during World War II. It was a this time that Burberry came up with the infamous trench coat, a longstanding bestseller.
Since being named creative director of Burberry, Christopher Bailey has breathed new life into the brand, lending a current feel to both Prorsum (high-end) and London (more accessible) collections. He is known for having loosened more strict lines as well as introducing bold colours and plays on traditional patterns. Burberry Bespoke enables clients to customize their trench coats or suits.
