Audi e-tron Spyder (Mondial Auto 2010)

Audi has unveiled its latest electric concept car, the e-tron Spyder.

In contrast to the e-tron’s earlier model that was completely electronic, the new concept car is a hybrid, equipped with a V6 twin-turbo TD1 engine at the rear, as well as two electric motors under the bonnet. In theory, this should enable the car to go from 0 to 100km/h in 4.4 seconds.
We particularly love the car’s speedboat-inspired design with its turbine-like wheels, (although we’d be interested to know the effects of the wheels on the car’s aerodynamics). Equally impressive is the iPhone application which keeps the driver up to date on the car’s battery life, informs them of possible parking spaces, and can even give the car’s exact location via GPS.

As yet, we have no information about when the e-tron Spyder will go on sale, but if it proves as popular as the Spyder Porsche Hybrid 918, we could be seeing it on the road very soon indeed.
